Data Analytics and Monitoring Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

1. Performance Monitoring

   • Continuously monitor the performance of IT systems, networks, servers, and applications.
   • Identify and analyze performance bottlenecks, latency issues, and resource constraints through data analysis.

2. Capacity Planning

   • Analyze historical data and trends to forecast future resource requirements such as storage, bandwidth, and computing power.
   • Ensure resource planning aligns with business growth and demand.

3. Incident Detection and Response

   • Set up and manage monitoring alerts and thresholds to detect and respond to security incidents, system failures, or abnormal behavior.
   • Analyze log data, event streams, and security alerts to investigate and mitigate potential threats or breaches.

4. IT Security Analytics

   • Analyze network traffic, access logs, and security events to detect and prevent cyber threats such as malware, intrusions, and data breaches.
   • Implement security measures based on analytical findings to protect the IT environment.

5. Change Management

   • Monitor changes to IT environments, configurations, and deployments to ensure compliance with change management processes.
   • Minimize disruptions by ensuring smooth transitions during IT changes.

6. Continuous Improvement

   • Continuously evaluate and improve monitoring strategies, tools, and processes based on feedback and lessons learned.
   • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to enhance monitoring effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in IT performance monitoring, capacity planning, and incident response.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Experience with monitoring tools and software such as Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar.
• Knowledge of IT security principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar.
• Experience in a DevOps or Agile environment.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation of monitoring tasks.
